Friday Photo: The Castle of Foix

Today’s friday photo is an image of the Castle of Foix, nestled in the foothills of the French Pyrenees. As the seat of the counts of Foix, the castle offered protection against the aristocratic squabbles of the Middle Ages to both it’s lord and to the local population. Little remains except one of the two original curtain walls and the imposing towers, visible at great distances from the valley below.
